Answers
- Q:
How long does a standby generator take to install?
A:
Typically it takes eight to ten hours on average to install the system.
This includes the four hour engine break-in period and initial
oil and filter change.

- Q:
How do you size a generator?
A:
We have several ways of doing this. One
method is to measure the current “draw” or “load” when appliances that
the customer wants “backed-up” are operating.
Another method is to use a computer program that calculates the
load requirements of your home or business.

- Q:
What is the expected life of the engine?
A: A
properly maintained engine should provide over 20 years of operation
under emergency standby conditions. Keep
in mind that the units are not intended to provide continuous power (24
hours a day, 365 days a year).

- Q:
Is a service contract available?
A:
YES! Contact
us for details and pricing.

- Q:
Does a generator need maintenance?
A:
Yes. The engine oil and filter will need to be changed once per year and
possibly more frequently depending upon how often the power goes out.

- Q:
How long is the warranty on a generator?
A:
All Carrier and Guardian generators come with a
two(2) year parts and labor warranty. Carrier unit warranties can
be extended to a 3rd through 5th year parts only or parts and labor
warranty.

- Q:
How much noise does a standby
generator make?
A:
The sound is equivalent to that of a small lawnmower.
